So, a funny thing happened last weekend. I went to a place nearby we call “Riverside” to pick up a couple of pizza’s. I ended up meeting the coolest lady who also worked at my opthalmologist’s place and had read some of my books. She was so excited to meet me and we had a great chat while my pizza was prepared. I promised that if she let me know where she was working and brought in her books - I’d come sign them for her.
I had really needed that boost. This is not an easy gig, by any stretch of the imagination - and I have had more than one career in my life. Physically, this is the easiest job I’ve ever done, but mentally, it can be both invigorating and exhausting. The writing is one half, the marketing/business aspect is the other half, and some days juggling it can just suck.
I’ve gotta say though, having someone so excited to meet an author, and telling me how much she loved my work? That is still a boost I’m riding. Thank you for that.
Porch demo - as you can see at the bottom of the photo above - has begun. Also, it’s so green and beautiful here. (Yes, I need to get the lawn mowed. It’s on the list.) There were sooo many wasp nests - I hid in the house while my son cleared the top rails off and sprayed. I didn’t need to interrupt the work by getting stung and needing a trip to the hospital. All went well and we’re getting things done bit by bit.
One more thing - check out the chat here. I posted about something awesome that Kobo has done. Kobo Plus is now available in the US and UK (as well as Canada, the Netherlands, and Belgium). It’s similar to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited - but the author payout is higher and the reader’s cost is lower. ALL of my books are in Kobo Plus because there is no exclusivity clause like with KU. So you can subscribe, read a ton of great books, pay less, and have access to all the things! They have ebook, audiobook, and ebook/audiobook options.
Finally - I’d like to wish a Chag Sameach, Happy Easter, and Ramadan Mubarak to all who celebrate. May the blessings you find in life be abundant.
Blessings in abundance!
I’m so glad you got to meet an excited fan. Multiply that by MANY MANY for all of us that will never get the opportunity. I promise I’d totally fan girl! Do you or will you do book tours?
May your blessings find you in abundance ❤️
