Like many, I’ve been struggling with the way things are in the world right now. Fear, anger, and worry have taken over many of us - with good reason. If you’ve read any of my books, you know my views on rights and freedoms. The loss of the freedoms already underway is horrific.
How do I deal? I watch comfort TV, read other writer’s books, and write. I’m also focusing on my community - both local - in person and my communities online. Strengthening ties and building community is how I survived the hurricane and how we’ll all survive what’s happening now.
Speaking of community, I’m no longer building community on Facebook. I’ve removed all of my posts and photos - and while I still have an account there so I can stay up to date on the book groups that are only there, and stay in touch with family and friends that are still there - I won’t be posting there.
I’m working on posting more here - in notes and such - and I’m posting on BlueSky. You can find me there here:
A puppy is also a great distraction. Chess has truly been a joy to all of us - Bear and Ace included. He’s growing fast and is so freakin’ smart.
Queen is nearly done. I know I’ve been saying that for a while, but it’s been difficult to write, as you all know. It feels good to be getting thousands of words down each week and I think you’re going to enjoy where this story takes you. Yes, I’m going to put the link for the preorder here again.
Take care of yourselves. Take care of each other. Look to your neighbors and communities in the days to come.
Gosh, Chess is adorable!!! Dogs are such a great comfort. Glad to hear you're making good progress on your writing x
Cold here too! Looking forward to reading Queen when you get it finished
