Two steps forward, one step back has been my week. I’ve got a head cold and it makes everything sound like I’m inside a metal trashcan. It’s fading, but it had me napping a lot this week.
I also realized I needed to add a bit more to King, so it’s going to be a bit longer -my apologies. I thought it was done, but after doing the ‘it’s finished, now read it all and go over it with a fine-toothed comb’ - there were a couple of places it needed more. So I’m doing that - in between naps. I swear, some books feel like they’ll never get done and this is one of them. (Yes, I’m laughing and groaning.)
This time of year, the Rose of Sharon bushes a previous owner planted all around the property are in full bloom. White, pink, and purple hues make a wall of color and a feast for the hummingbirds.
This one is by itself, at the corner of the house and outside my office window.
With the heat, I’ve been doing a lot of ‘doesn’t take a lot of cooking’ meals, or using a slow cooker and an electric pressure cooker to keep the kitchen heat down. Last night I made rice in the rice cooker, then did a steamable veggie bag in the microwave and seasoned salmon fillets that come frozen and you cook them in the microwave. Delicious, healthy, and no kitchen heat.
What’s your favorite hot weather food? What do you like to cook (or toss together) when the weather is steamy? Share in the comments so we can all get some new ideas!
The inestimable Jade Bones has a free book for you this week. Grab it below and see why she’s one of my favorite authors.
This city has always hated me. I've spent my life trying to save up enough money to clear my mom's debts—may she, at least, rest in peace—and get out of here. But right when I'm banking a huge bag of money to do just that... Bam. I'm dead.
And then I'm alive again. Which would be great, except it happens again. And again.
Now, I need to figure out if I owe someone a fruit basket for bringing me back to life... or if they're just trying to kill me and doing a really crap job of it.
To complicate things, three super hot mercenaries—Darion, Silas, and Miles—have made it their mission to look out for me. They're all supes, by the way, although they won't tell me what kind. All I know is they won't let me handle this alone, no matter how hard I try, and they're starting to break through my walls as easily as they break through bad guys' heads.
The only problem is, I can tell they have secrets.
I learned long ago never to trust people who keep secrets. Especially because I think this secret might have something to do with my little undead problem...
Do I let them break down my walls, or will that just kill me forever this time?
Undead to Rites is a standalone reverse harem novel with multiple love interests, graphic on page intimacy, and MM romance. My favorite hot weather food is sandwiches (specifically turkey sandwiches). If it's stinkin' hot outside, I want my food to be as cool/cold as possible.
I'm living on salads as well, my tomatoes are coming in.... Hope you get better soon
