Y’all! It’s been hotter than hot the past week and I’m in the mountains of NC where it’s always a touch cooler than the rest of the state.
You’d think this translated to more time behind the computer, right? Well - yes and no. When it gets too hot, my brain and my body want cool and quiet. So, there’s some writing, some lying in the cool and reading - then more writing at the end of the day when the sun’s gone down.
I got a short story done and submitted for Stocking Up For Christmas - a couple of days late. My bad. I was so caught up in Knight, I forgot about it. It’s a newsletter builder, so there’s no preorder link - but I’ll be sure to drop it in here when it’s ready so you can check out the other authors.
Saved by the Everyday Hero is slated to launch August 1st. Have you grabbed your preorder yet?
Heroes & Hurricanes
Chapter 1
He’d paid the old man a month of mooring fees to dock his boat where he could watch her, unobstructed by fences and trees. With the house elevated on pillars, the screen porch was almost a story above the ground and gave him a front-row seat to her daily activities. The hidden cameras he’d placed all around inside the house were great, but seeing her in person was better.
Okay, who was he kidding? Seeing her in the shower was better. She had a great body for a woman in her forties and she took care of herself. He could appreciate that.
He could also appreciate the fact that anything he did to her would torment the hell out of Jameson Kennedy. Sure, he could’ve gone after Jamie’s new wife, Tara – but this one was the mother of Jamie’s kids. She was also the one who had mothered Michael Donovan’s two kids after Donovan was killed and his wife, Katie went and got herself put away for murder. What he had planned for Elise Kennedy would cause pain to both families. That he could get behind. Donovan and Kennedy deserved every ounce of payback – and then some.
Ice water rules! We are in the hottest month of the year here in the desert, with highs running around 105-109 😊🌞 But it’s a dry heat 🤣.
Stay hydrated, my friend! Don’t let your precious brain cells dry up, please. We need more of your stories!
