Remembering...
Wow, June went by fast!
I know we’ve all heard it - ‘time seems to go faster as you get older’ - and it does seem to be that way. I was reading a post on Sari Botton’s “Oldster” page where Samina Najmi is answering the questionnaire and she says:
”Like many people, I’m much surer of myself—my worth, but also my values, my way of doing and seeing things. Getting older has made me much more mindful of my responsibility to be a good ancestor, as they say in Indigenous communities. So, on one hand, I’m far more secure in myself, and on the other, it’s less and less about myself.”
A lot of what Samina says in this piece really resonated, but that bit above? That really hit home.
Society does a lot to keep us from taking a breath, taking a moment, and remembering what’s truly important. I’ve been consciously taking the time to do this more often over the past few years and it’s made a profound change in how I view the world.
Tomorrow, June 29th, is my seven year ‘authorversary’ - the anniversary of the first time I hit publish on one of my books. So much has changed in my life - and much has changed in the book industry since I started. Over 61 stories later, I’m still writing - albeit at a slower pace this year - and I can honestly say I love being able to do this. And yes, I’m still pleasantly surprised when I go back and read something I’ve written and decide that yes, it really is good.

I started to read it years ago, but that was during the height of life being crazy and traumatic. I need to start it again! I also have more of your books on my TBR. The Sid & Sin series totally deserves a re-read.
