Rainy spring musings
This has been a week of rain - and yes, I’m glad it wasn’t snow. The rain has slowed the fire damage cleanup, but some progress has been made. There was even one day when it was clear most of the day and warm, so I opened the door and the boys loved being able to run in and out and sun themselves on the porch. I’m looking forward to when my morning routine includes opening the door and leaving it open until evening falls.

Excuse the muddy pawprints all over the porch. I’ll hose it down when it’s warm enough to leave the hose connected.
If any of you have ever dealt with the trauma of a fire at your home, (and I’ve heard from a couple of you that have - thank you for your care) then you know the aftermath lingers for a long time. Yeah, this goes for any trauma - I had issues after Helene, too. But right now, I’m still having trouble keeping my creative mind going for more than a couple of hours, so Gone on Arrival is progressing slowly.
It seems like I get into the flow, then the never-ending list of things that need to be handled intrudes and I have to stop and go deal with them. I’ve been telling myself that any progress is progress and not beating myself up too much for being slow. I am so in love with this story and I know y’all are going to love it.
In other news, there’s a free book in this week’s newsletter. Check it out below!
How long have I been in love with Leo? I can’t remember a time the sexy, dark-eyed bassist in my band wasn’t haunting my every thought. As Ember Riot embarks on our first tour, I decide to make my feelings known. I have no idea if Leo is into guys, but I have to find out.
It started with playful secret admirer notes.
To my delight, Leo is receptive.
I got bold.
And that was my downfall.
Slipping the final note into place, I’m caught in the act. Will my revealed identity be the beginning of something beautiful between Leo and I? Or will his rejection end our friendship and tear the band apart?
