I’m writing this Friday evening and I just got internet service back. I had planned to have Mariah Thayer post a note in this for me and make sure it got sent out, but now I can take care of it myself. Such a huge relief!
I still don’t have running water, but I have neighbors that have wells and they’re letting me fill containers, do a load of laundry, and take showers. It’s the little things that become so precious when a catastrophic event happens.
A Facebook post I did to answer the many DMs asking what people could do to help gives my website and Graffridge Substack and my PayPal (graffridgepub@gmail.com). I have supplies of dry goods, canned goods, and bottled water - but fresh stuff is only available with cash and I can buy locally - but only cash. (Things like milk, eggs, meat, etc.) Two ATMs in town are allowing $100 limit withdrawals, so I don’t have to drive far to get it now.
Hurricane Helen has geographically changed this area forever. Rivers have new paths. Mudslides and rockslides have changed the contours of mountains. Homes and business are just…gone. The river took them and kept the land for herself, so people can’t even rebuild there as there’s no land to build on.
I’m so freakin’ grateful that my house is fine, and that I got power back very quickly. Now, with internet restored, I can work, pay bills, etc. I was struggling to try and do that with limited cell data on my phone.
Thank you, everyone, who has helped out. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of you.
Now - for some books!
This novella takes place in a small sanctuary town near the cabins my series Love In The Woods is centered around. It can be read as a standalone but future novellas in Whistler might have a cameo of the characters in my other series.
Everyone says a mate will solve my problems.
Yeah, right.
Three months ago I was mugged walking home and my life changed in an instant. These days I focus on staying safe and keeping my face hidden.
I was doing a good job until my best friend and interfering cousin teamed up to find me a mate. Now I have to be rejected by four shifters so they can get their money back.
I wasn’t counting on meeting Bruce, a werebear who made me want again.
I am so happy you are safe. My heart is so broken for everyone that has been taken by that horrible storm.
So thankful that you are okay! Bless your neighbors for being so kind. The devastation is insane, I can’t even imagine what things are like for you. Sending positive energy and all that your way! Stay safe friend!
