Considering all of the work I’ve been doing outside, more than at my desk the past few days, I wasn’t staying up as late at night. It surprised me when I woke just before seven in the morning and it was more dark than light. I had missed the gradual transition and it was a bit of an ‘oh, we’re here already’ moment.
I pulled on my robe and let the dogs out, then grabbed my coffee to sit on the porch and watch the sun rise. It was breathtakingly beautiful as the shadows slowly gave way to the light. It smells like early autumn, too. It’s that sun-warmed, dried leaf smell with a touch of damp chill in the air. A hint of woodsmoke from a neighbor’s morning fire adds a special touch to the perfume.
Moments like these, I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to live in these beautiful mountains and call it home.
Some of you have asked why I put in subscription info. Here’s the blunt answer - for the money. Being an author is, for most of us, not a high-paying gig. Most of my income is still from Social Security Disability income - and I don’t yet make enough as an author to lose those benefits yet. Every little bit helps, so yes, I will keep asking for subscriptions - even while leaving the newsletters free to everyone. If you can’t pay, don’t worry about it. Just keep reading.
I do have a plan to have a subscription only serialized story - and if you’ve got a subscription here, you’ll be added to the subscribers there. That’s not going to happen until next year, though.
In other news - have you picked up Knight? Bishop? Did you grab either of the anthologies - Rejected by the Immortal and Monster Hunters? Leave a comment and let me know what you thought about them - good or bad.
Don’t forget to preorder Jolene and Saoirse - I don’t have descriptions/blurbs for them yet because I’m still writing them. I’ll share those as soon as I have something for you. Jolene is the vampire novel that comes after And So It Begins, and Saoirse is the hunter novel that comes after Luck of the Irish (you get the shorts in the anthologies above). These are all in the new series, the Supernatural Intelligence Network.
That is one pretty setting. The mountains are my favorite place. ❤️ I have Rook on my kindle now and am looking forward to starting your series!
They are indeed beautiful mountains. And you've been working your butt off.
