Cooler colors

The weather is cooler and the colors are coming. The Elder maples on the ridge here are faded green and yellows with growing piles of leaves across the lawn. This is one of my favorite times of year - when the weather is cooler, and yet more wild. When the feeling of change is in the air and shows in the world around me.

I’m writing this on Friday so it’s ready to go at 3am on Sunday - and I’m hoping to have Bishop finished by the time this goes out. It’s close. It’s SO close. I spent the week reworking parts and writing more and shuffling bits around - and it’s a really good story. Writing with such a large cast of characters can get tricky, so I’ve been careful to make sure all of the threads are woven just so.

There have been a few personal things that happened this week. A friend’s father died, another friend’s father is in his final days, and someone dear to me is going through cancer treatments. A lot of heavy stuff and it reminds me that there are moments where it can get just too heavy to breathe. But if we reach out and connect with others and share the burden, it becomes a little lighter, a little easier to manage.

I’ve always been a glass half-full kind of person and even when there’s a LOT coming at me, I can still see glimmers of hope and good. Hold on to those glimmers, because they make all of the difference.
