First up - a fellow author in our community needs our help. As some of you know, my author friends, Mariah Thayer, Kat Newman, and Shelly Ferguson, were all at Getting Witchy With It in Salem, Massachusetts last weekend. Another author was supposed to be there as well, but couldn’t make it. Kat explains why:
So, a few weeks before Everly was supposed to come to Salem for Getting Witchy With It - her 16 year old son snuck out of the house to hang out with friends. They were in a horrible car accident going 120 miles an hour. Everly's son (Austin) was not driving. Two of the boys were killed in the crash, the other two were thrown from the vehicle. Austin crawled to the nearest house (about 35 yards away) to get help.
He has since had 13+ life savings surgeries, one of which was to amputate both of his legs below the knee. Everly said that he will be in the hospital for at least a few more weeks, and will be having surgeries nearly daily. Their entire life has changed.
She is currently unable to write or do cover design, and she doesn't have another job at the moment. We're asking for people to hit up her author page, buy some books, and help this writing mama while she's taking care of her son.
Back at home, there’s been a lot of house stuff getting handled this week, and then the chill autumn rains moved in and my body decided to remind me I’m not 30 any longer. Yes, that means it has made me slow down some and rest more.
As for the poll from last week, it looks like the most votes went to the Supernatural Intelligence Network series - but I also had a couple of people asking for Hybrids, which - to be honest - surprised me.
That series was one of my favorites to write - but hasn’t done well, sales-wise. Jericho was the book that I worked hard on before I did a pivot and put out Remembrance as my first one. I published Remembrance, Revelation, and Revenge - then Induction, before I put Jericho out there. (You can find all of my books at tkeldridge.com, and links there to get them on all the shops.)
I hope you’re enjoying Curls & Chaos. I apologize for the rapid-release, but I wanted to get caught up so you could start at chapter one and work your way through as the final chapters are delivered. As of today, you should be all caught up with the release of chapter twelve. Chapter seventeen will be out on Friday, September 27th.
For new folks, that’s the current book being serialized over on my Graffridge Publishing ‘stack in audio and text.
I’m still writing Queen - a few hundred words a day isn’t much, but progress is progress. It should pick up now that the worst of the house disaster is handled. (Thankfully! I could use some physically easier days.)
Appreciate you all!
Hi Kess—I pulled up Everly’s books on Kindle, but it said it didn’t support purchase of her E-books. Do you know if authors get paid for downloads of their books even if we can’t purchase them? I’d love to get some of her books but I just don’t have the space for ‘real’ books. Are her books on other platforms that allow purchase? Thanks, Liz.
