The comment said: "serials belong to the 1950s, eg radio plays that ended on a cliffhanger for the next night's episode. I prefer a whole story, no cliffhangers."

That's your opinion. Serialization is hugely popular with venues like Vella, Radish, Ream, and many others. It's a great way for authors to make a little money while writing.
That is why we do this, readers. We write to get our stories out there - and make money. I'm on a disability income and this is the ONLY way I can afford to pay my bills.
Also, my stories often have cliffhangers. While the main story arc for that book will have an ending, if the book is part of a series, it will have a cliffhanger to lead into the next book.

I’m sorry for not responding to the survey. I’ve been busy taking care of two very sick family members, so am behind on emails, miss getting sleep, and have fond memories of relaxing to read. I know I saw the emails about the serial, and had the thought that it would be completed before I get a chance to read the first paragraph. But it has given me something to look forward to, and I do recall the joys of serialization. I’m sitting here quietly in the hospital, first chance this week to actually read emails instead of deleting or filing for later. You’re making me happy. Thanks!

My brother has taken over for my stepmom’s care, so life is pretty good by comparison to the past few months. 😊 I’m heading out to reclaim my dog from friends next. They said he has chihuahua and spaniel in him. He's only about 18-20" tall.
